Vintage Alabama White Border Linen Postcard Bellingrath Gardens Mobile Alabama Deep South Very Good Condition

The back of this vintage white border postcard tells us that the Bellingrath Gardens are located on the picturesque Isle Aux Oies River about 17 miles from Mobile Alabama on US Highway 90.

The natural beauty of this estate is made more beautiful by the thousands of azalea shrubs which burst into bloom the latter part of February. At the height of the flowering season the blooms completely hide the limbs and leaves of these plants. Solid masses of flowers in shades of white, pink, salmon, red, orange and cerise.

It is the historic home of Walter and Bessie Bellingrath on the Fowl River (as it is now known - translated from the French Isle Aux Oies River - river of the isle of wild geese) in Mobile Alabama. Walter Bellingrath was one of the first Coca-Cola bottlers in the Southeast and was the President of the local Coca Cola plant.

This vintage white border postcard - 1915 - 1930 - is used and is in very good condition on the front, with some stress wrinkles in the upper left of the back only, which does not affect the postcard in the least. Postmarked 1958 with a 3 cents Liberty stamp.
