The back of this postcard tells us that the Royal Gorge is one of the greatest chasms in the world; several miles in length; barely 40 feet wide at the bottom; and over a half mile deep. Much engineering was needed to make passageway for the D&RGW Railroad including the building of the famous hanging bridge in the upper reaches of the gorge.
